About Marjorie Today
Meet Marjorie. Marjorie began her occupational life teaching teens with hearing loss how to dance, teaching children through play in daycares, caregiving individuals suffering dementia and Alzheimer's (including her own mother), working with speech and occupational therapists in caring for adults with severe disabilities, and completing her career as a carer sitting bedside with those in palliative and hospice care. Her motto was to meet people where they are at in the moment they are there. Thus, Marjorie Today.
We want to support the Care Partner and through them, the Person Living with Dementia (PLwD), in the now - their now. If we can be present in all our todays within ourselves and with our loved ones, we may increase opportunity for connection, relief, sustainability, resilience, and joy.
My name is Penny
I am Penny Waller Ulmer, Marjorie's daughter. I am also a Registered Psychologist. Before becoming a Psychologist, I spent five years with Seniors in recreation therapy. Marjorie Today directs to our information, therapy, and therapy groups for caregivers, and consultation for individuals and groups.
Though caregiving can be rewarding and bring joyful moments, caregiving brings emotional toll, e.g., stress, isolation, etc., while navigating many varied challenges. Personal and professional experience has provided me with a deep understanding of the needs of caregivers.
My Mom taught me to keep the humanity and dignity of an individual as priority in all care and considerations, and to be creative in responding to needs and I believe that Marjorie Today's programs for psychoeducation and therapy meet Mom's criteria.
Today, Marjorie is well and loves to play games, go for walks, and chat about the good ol' days while spending time with her family, including her twin sister. Marjorie Today is here to help support caregivers of individuals with dementia-related illnesses so that you can take good care of yourself while you are taking care of someone else.
Your responsibility has an impact and we want to help.
